As a youth growing up in Chicago, Michael Running Moon Dai was by the harsh realities of life on the south side. By the age of 12, he had joined a gang and by end of his teens, he struggled to obtain his GED. As an adult, Michael had to find his own way to survive eventually winding up in the military. While in the military, he accidentally killed his best friend during a mixed martial arts contest an incident that would lead to his honorable discharge. Michael was raised by his grandmother, Iris Dai, but his quest for balance would lead to an intense study of Buddhism and an initiation into the Mysteries of the Asawan.
